The governor of Delta State Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has commissioned a multi-purpose hall at Emore Grammar School, Oleh, Isoko South Local Government Area, Delta State, singlehandedly built by an old student of the school High Chief Eta Enahoro.
Speaking while commissioning the hall during the golden jubilee celebration of the school, Okowa who was represented by the State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu noted that infrastructural development was one of the cardinal points of the State SMART AGENDA of the State government.
He stated that the effort of Enahoro in building the multi-purpose hall was appreciated, saying that it would provide a conducive atmosphere for teaching and learning.
Okowa however appealed to the Odiologbo of Oleh and leaders of the community to ensure that the project is protected, adding that “Most importantly, the principal, staff and students should justify the kind gesture of the donor by ensuring its judicious use and maintenance.”
He also charged other voluntary individuals, organizations, and groups to embrace and emulate the kind gesture by High Chief Eta Enahoro.
He commended the old students for deeming it fit to organize an event such as this in this period of down-turn in the economy, noting that they appreciate the sacrifices of the founding fathers of the school and their contribution to partner with the Delta State government.
The chairman founder’s day former commissioner Higher Education,Delta State Prof. Patrick Muoboghare commended Enahoro for building a multi-purpose hall for Emore Grammar School.
He asserted that, for the multi-purpose hall to be put to effective use, he want the hall to become Joint Admission Matriculation Board Centre, noting that for it to meet the criteria and qualify for Jamb examination centre, some basic things must be done.
“There must be a minimum of 250 computers. Once that is done, leave the rest for me, I will pursue that cause to ensure the place become a Jamb centre, he promised.
Earlier on, the chairman of Emore Grammar School Old Students’ Association applauded the decision of the government of Delta State to upgrade the Emore Grammar School to a Model School.
He opined that, The 24 classroom edifice commissioned by his Excellency, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, on the 29th of April, 2021 is a testament to the conviction of government in the glorious future of the school.
He appealed to the Delta State governor to put in place the ancillary structures and features of the model school, including principal and staff quarters, sport facilities, dormitories and other boarding facilities; and place the school on the list of Model Schools in the State, with a view of regular release of subvention.
In his remarks the donor of the multi-purpose hall, High Chief Eta Enahoro said that, “I am overwhelmed with the standing ovation from Emore Grammar School and all the people that are here. I must tell you whatever I do is not how fat my bank account is.
“My heart is for humanity, from the little God has given to us, it is our commitment to continue to do our part for humanity”.
